The Problem With Most Diet Plans
Jan 21st, 2010 by Janie Behr
New fad diets are a dime a dozen. I’ve tried lots of diets, and for the first week, I’m extremely enthusiastic and determined. But such a drastic change in diet is hard to sustain, and soon you give in to temptation and then it falls apart. We’ve all been there.
Get a trainer, ask a friend to work out together. I always find that when I start exercising, I naturally feel better and want to eat better and vice versa.
Making small changes one at a time….we don’t have to go “cold turkey “ and cut out all sweets, all carbs and everything else you enjoy eating. How many of you have been on the diets where you buy the food and that’s all you eat. Yea, its fine for awhile but when you go back to “normal” fresh food….all the weight you have lost usually comes right back because you haven’t really changed the way you think about food.
I have found two weeks of natural sugar…oranges help me a lot. I have a bowl of strawberries, blue berries, and clementines on the table and that usually satisfies my craving for candy and gives me the pick me up I need mid-morning.
KNOW YOUR TRIGGER FOODS!!!
KNOW WHAT YOUR COMFORT FOODS ARE
I love spaghetti and it is very satisfying and makes me feel comforted. So, I get spinach or wheat spaghetti. (a little margarine and salt and pepper…mmmm)
Spend more time and money on your food…make it a priority
- Drink water!
- Hot tea with honey
- Clementines…mmmmmm they are wonderful this time of year
- Strawberries, blueberries
- Rasins, figs
- Eat wheat or whole grain bread
- If you want pizza get thin, whole wheat veggie pizza
- Enjoy almonds
- Frosted mini wheats instead of bagels and pretzels
- Whole grain hot cereal with a few walnuts and brown sugar
Above all else…take care of yourself. Know that you matter….just as much as the people you love. I always ask myself “what would I do if I were my own mother”
Does anyone else have suggestion…please let me know as it always helps me to try something new!
